What are "ACLs"? 🤔
"ACLs" control all access to Imagen, but what are they?
An ACL (Access control list) can best be understood by switching the words to a List of who has Access and Control over that access.
List of users who have access
First, we start with a list. This can be a list of Individual users, or groups of users - possibly set by an organisation. For now, let's start with three groups, "Super Admins", "Imagen Staff" and "Anonymous". Complex Lists can be created, but we will keep it simple to explain how this works. This example is for access to a single record. We can move on to advanced concepts like Default ACL later.
This is our list of users that can access this record.
Next, we add control over that access. The previous example shows "Can edit" and "Can View". This is how we control who can change records, and who can only access to view. It is also possible to have 'Preview only access'.
